Any computer not on the certified lists below cannot be guaranteed to be compatible with any Blackmagic Design USB 3.0 product.


USB 3.0 System Requirements under Windows

Blackmagic Design USB 3.0 devices are compatible with the following Windows based operating systems:

  • Windows 7 64-bit
  • Windows 8 64-bit

QuickTime

Apple QuickTime needs to be installed for some applications to function with a Blackmagic Desktop Video device, e.g. Adobe After Effects. You can download the latest version of Apple QuickTime for Windows: QuickTime Download.

CPU Requirements

In general, you should choose a CPU that meets or exceeds the system requirements of the software application you are planing on using.

Certified PC Workstations

The following workstations are certified for use with UltraStudio Pro, UltraStudio SDI, Intensity Shuttle, ATEM 1 M/E, ATEM 2 M/E and Pocket UltraScope devices with USB 3.0 Expander cards:

UltraScope Software under Windows

This software package allows you to set up and update your Blackmagic Pocket UltraScope to the latest software release for new features, bug fixes and other enhancements.

  • Support for 1920 x 1080 displays.
  • Support for Ivy Bridge USB3 chip sets

Memory

Blackmagic Design recommends a minimum of 4GB of memory for all systems.

Graphics

For optimal performance, an accelerated discrete non-onboard graphics card is recommend for use with UltraStudio Pro, UltraStudio SDI, Intensity Shuttle and Pocket UltraScope devices.

Storage

You will require hard drive storage with your Blackmagic card that can provide a data rate greater than that of the video compression you are using.

Mac OS X Specific:

  • Full support for UltraStudio Pro, UltraStudio SDI and Intensity Shuttle for USB 3.0 on Mac OS X 10.8.5 and later.
  • Increased compatibility with newer USB 3.0 host controllers for use with UltraStudio Pro, UltraStudio SDI and Intensity Shuttle for USB 3.0

As of UltraScope 1.8.1

  • Support for Mac Mini with USB3 and Intel Iris Graphics
  • Support for 1920 x 1080 displays.

Minimum system requirements for Mac OS X

  • Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite
  • Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks or later
  • 4 GB of system memory recommended.

Note:

  • UltraScope is not supported on Mac Pro G5 computers.

Any Apple Mac computer built from mid 2012 onwards with USB 3.0 is compatible with Intensity Shuttle, Ultrastudio SDI and Ultrastudio Pro.
