Using Redbooth From basics to advanced, and everything in between.

Mobile Security (On Premise)

Fall 2016 update: Thank you for your interest in Redbooth Private Cloud. While we continue to support current Private Cloud customers, we are no longer taking on new Private Cloud customers. Find out more about Redbooth's standard cloud security ».

Android

Certificates

Due to security considerations, if ssl is enabled on the Redbooth Private Cloud instance then a valid CA-signed SSL certificate must also be active for the Android app to work.

This is especially important if you are using Redbooth Chat in the device.

In any case, we strongly recommend that you do activate SSL for use with our mobile apps.

Network

In order for the mobile app to communicate with the Private Cloud “behind-your-firewall”, the following options exist:

  • Internal use – Apps are only used when in the same network as the Redbooth appliance.

  • External use – Device must be configured to use a VPN that allows the device to access the internal network from remote locations.

In order to configure the VPN for your Android device see this article.

Note: Using a VPN can lead to high battery consumption.

iOS
