Outlook Plugin Troubleshooting

If you are having an issue with the Outlook Plugin installation, please go through the following scenarios to troubleshoot the issue.

General Troubleshooting Tips

When an installation error occurs on a device with an operating system with Windows 7 or older installed, the problem is usually due to the plugin trying to download and install Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 and failing. This is because Windows 7 comes with version 3.5 of framework pre-installed — from Windows 8 on, the pre-installed version of framework is 4.5 and above.

You can download and install the necessary version of framework here and then try to run the set up once again.

Your issue may also be related to not having Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office installed, which is required for the plugin to work. Download and install it here.

Scenario 1

While trying to install the plugin, component Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime (x86 and x64) has failed to install with the following error message:

“Fatal error during installation”

We suggest that you download and install Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Tools manually here and repeat the process once again.

Scenario 2

When installing the plugin, you get the following error message:

“System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x8007001F): A device attached to the system is not functioning. (Exception from HResult 0x8007001F). Microsoft.VisualStudio.Tools.Applications.Deployment.ClickOnceAddInDeploymentManager (TimeSpan timeout)”

This issue is more likely to be related to upgrading rather than installing the plugin. However, we suggest that you download and install Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Tools here and repeat the process once again.

Scenario 3

You try to install the plugin and get an error saying that the download of Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Tools has failed. You then download Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Tools again and it installs without any problem. However, you start the plugin installation again and get a Redbooth error message.

We suggest that you uninstall Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Tools and download it again from Microsoft here.

Scenario 4

You get the following error message:

Outlook Plugin Troubleshooting

We suggest that you check what version of Windows you are using. It is likely that you will need to download version 4.5 of Microsoft .NET Framework and Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Tools to complete the installation.
